Cape Town – Victoria Falls

Day 1 – 2: Cape Town – Orange River – Namibia
We’ll drive through the exciting and Scenic South African landscape, head for the Namibian border, and hope to cross the Orange River on the first day – here we’ll enjoy camp fires, Braais (BBQ) and a few beers/wines (non-drinkers are welcome too) at one of the camps – then do some canoeing/rafting in the morning.
Days 3 – 4: Fish River Canyon
vic falls
We’ll leave the Orange River and head to the Fish River Canyon, find a place to spend the night and some activities in the canyon.
Days 4 – 5: Sossusvlei – Namib Desert
Leave the canyon and head towards the Namib Desert…google and find out more! We’ll probably stay at Hammerstein Lodge – great place, awesome atmosphere. If we have space for a board or two in the cars, we can go dune-surfing.

Day 6 – ish: (we’ll see how it goes..) WINDHOEK
Capital of Namibia – we get in, and get out. The only reason to stop over here is this place: http://www.joesbeerhouse.com/our-menu.html — eat your heart out.
Depending on the beer intake at Joe’s Beer House, we’ll try to get going at a decent hour, long day’s drive to Maun.

Day 10 – 11: CHOBE
We’ll spend a day on Safari in the Spectacular Chobe National Park.

This the end of station – BUT, here’s where we should hang out for 2-3 days and:
  • Bungee jump: Bungee jump: 111 metres from the classic Victoria Falls Bridge down towards the Zambezi River.
  • Eat at Crocodile Ribs at Café Zambezi – you won’t regret it, unless you’re vegetarian
  • Go an an evening booze cruise and see elephants, crocodiles, and various other creatures – it’s difficult to beat an evening on the Zambezi.
  • River raft down the Zambezi – if you’re up for it! An amazing experience, one of the best rafting available in the world.

  • A number of the many other activities to get into in Vic Falls and Livingstone

From here we’ll see – you might want to fly out of Livingstone and back home, or perhaps you will be able to hitch a cheap ride back in our vehicles down to Johannesburg and/or Cape Town – as mentioned, this is not an itinerary set in stone. Fluid, but solid.

Are you up for it? This is a bit of do-it-yourself trip, with some help – you won’t find this at a travel agency. You will take part in driving the expedition vehicles (if you want) and being an active participant in the expedition team. We aim to put together a small group of about 8-10 people, in two or three 4×4 vehicles.
